Innovadyne & ORNL Joint Recipients of R & D 100 Award
Santa Rosa, CA, Oct. 16th, 2002. The ASAP (Any Source, Any Position) fluidics technology, jointly developed by Innovadyne Technologies, Inc. and Oak Ridge National Laboratories, has been selected to receive an R&D 100 Award, granted by R&D Magazine.
Each year, R&D Magazine, a leading scientific and technology publication, presents the R&D 100 Awards to honor the world's most technologically significant 100 products or processes of the year. "This recognition of our technology on the global stage has been very exciting for us" stated Jim Johnson, Director of Technology, Innovadyne Technologies. "When we first began working together with ORNL, our goal was to develop a system that addressed the real-life challenges faced by ORNL researchers. Two years later, Innovadyne has been successful in providing a commercially available sub-microliter fluidics technology that meets the urgent needs of researchers in the Drug Discovery Field."
"Innovadyne's focus is the development of innovative, robust liquid-handling components and systems that help researchers implement techniques required for successful assay miniaturization," added Joel McComb, President & CEO, Innovadyne Technologies, Inc.
About Innovadyne
Innovadyne Technologies, Inc., headquartered in Santa Rosa, CA, is a rapidly growing, privately-held company that provides robust fluidics solutions to life science researchers in HTS, Genomics and Proteomics markets. Innovadyne's relationship with Oak Ridge collaborators developed through a combination of ORNL's requirements for non-contact dispense methodology and ITI's expertise in liquid handling. The ASAP fluidics technology enables non-contact, high speed, and low volume dispensing in the low nanoliter to microliter range. The Company offers proprietary, OEM technologies that enable increases in throughput, sensitivity and flexibility of high-volume assays, while lowering reagent cost significantly.
About ORNL
ORNL is a Department of Energy multi-program research facility managed by UT-Battelle. It is one of the world's premier centers for R&D on energy production, distribution, and use and on the effects of energy technologies and decisions on society. To date it has the national lab-leading total of 112 R & D 100 awards since the competitions' inception in 1963.
Previous winners of R&D 100s include Polacolor film, the flashcube, the digital wristwatch, antilock brakes, the automated teller machine, the liquid crystal display, the halogen lamp, the fax machine and the touch-sensitive screen.
